You know that feeling, when you're waaaaay up high on your apparatus, you're shaking and scared, your muscles and brain are exhausted, you're wondering why the hell you're up here to begin with, and you're sweaty......soooo sweaty. Everything aside you get set up, and you do it. You rise above your tired body and brain. You drop. You reach a little further than you thought you could. You reach to your ceiling, and you discover your power.

It is in that one moment that we make a shift within ourselves. A choice. The decision to be better, to want better. You may not even know you are doing it, but it is happening! Week after week we face that fear, and continue to transform.

QC FEMME FEST embodies just that! We are bringing togethe...

Having the ability to practice at home whenever you might d*mn well feel like sure is an attractive prospect. HOWEVER, much should be considered that you might not have ever thought about. This 10 item list is a great summary of reminders, food for thought, to-do's and not to-do's.

At AerialCLT, we RARELY endorse home practice because it is almost never a good idea. There are so many affordable options how to practice at the studio, so why even make the financial investment and assume the risk at home? However, we do have a few rules for practice at the studio. For example, in order to be eligible for practice time you must be:

  • level Intermediate II or higher (to become this level, you have been in the air a minimum of 1...

Yes, I am talking to YOU!

I think it is safe to agree the one thing that ties each and everyone of us together at Aerial CLT is our sense of community. Regardless of whether or not we personally know each other or have ever taken a class together, there is a very common thread that we all share.

It is that sense of absolute power that each of us has felt at some point. You know the one, it happens when you are up high on your apparatus of choice and you're shaking and scared, and your muscles are tired and you are questioning why you are doing this in the first place and you're soooo, soooo sweaty. Yet...you do it. You rise above that moment. You do the drop. You extend your leg a litttttttle bit further - you reach for your ceil...

Tis the Season!

Join us for our annual Holiday Party at the Uptown Studio on December 10th from 7-10P. Here are a few fun facts you need to know before we can do the Jingle Bell Boogie:

  • Help us take care of our adopted family by bringing 1 donatable item. This is the first year we have adopted a family through the Union County Christmas Bureau and we are really excited! We signed up for a family of 4 children and will be providing them a holiday dinner as well as gifts. More information and a sign up list is below on what we will be collecting so that we can give them a beautiful holiday.

Our studio is full of the coolest people and Michele is one of them! She's become another one of the Aerial CLT family since she's been with us. Here's her story:

It is fitting to share my before and after as today, June 15 marks my two year aerialversary with AerialCLT.  I will be forever grateful to Candace Stamper for not only my amazing hair moon trims but for introducing me to Aerial CLT during my first visit with her. I had just relocated to Charlotte and was desperately missing Athens, GA  where I flew on the trapeze weekly.  I signed up for my first class with two Athens friends and got the eight class pass and took two more classes in the next three days.  I’m hooked and I see this going on for a long time....

Christine has been with us for almost a year now. She most recently rocked a performance in our Spring Showcase and was amazing! Here is what aerial has done for her since she began in June of 2015:

Throughout almost my entire life, I refused to acknowledge that choices I made about diet and exercise directly affected what I looked like. Instead, I hid behind my identity as a soft, pudgy, “big girl” and wallowed in self-pity while binge-eating 3500 calories after school. This led to me weighing approximately 220 pounds at the end of high school. Embarrassment and self-loathing didn’t even begin to cover what I felt every time I happened to catch my reflection in the mirror or in a particularly polished shop window. My weight has...

Mental Blocks – we all experience them at some point (if not multiple points) in our aerial journey. A mental block is the inability to remember or think of something we normally can do. In the aerial world, we get these mental blocks when we try to do a specific move and, while our bodies have the capability and experience to achieve it, our minds get in the way by sending fear or doubt.  Whether it’s getting our straddle from the air or getting into the proper setup for an intermediate drop, we will all, at some point, hit a mental block and start to question “what if I really can’t do this?” This seedling of doubt can easily grow and create more fears if not confronted right away. I am all too familiar with these kinds of fea...

Back in August, we gave you 6 Reasons to Try Aerial Class, but we just couldn't stop ourselves there. We found 8 more compelling reasons. Have we convinced you yet?

1. Try something new.

They say that a change is as good as a rest. Do you feel like you’re stuck in a fitness rut, or you’re generally uninspired? You might as well try something out of the box and see how it makes you feel. You never know – you might totally love it!

2. Get strong!

We say on the website that there’s no pull-up required, and we mean it. Sure, a lot of aerialists have great upper body strength, but how do you think they get it? By coming to aerial class and building it up! You’ll learn to work with your own body weight to get muscles that are proportionat...
